24 Hours of Eating and Drinking at La Bahia Santa Cruz
We spent 24 hours at La Bahia Hotel and Spa and ate and drank our way through the whole thing.
Here's everything.
Dinner at High Tide
Santa Cruz's finest luxury beachfront hotel has a signature restaurant to match. Elevated, coastal, and seriously good.
Coconut Crab Cakes: Nuoc Cham, Namasu, Cilantro. A strong opener.
Agedashi Tofu: Tsuyu, Pickled Daikon, Bonito. Light, delicate, and executed perfectly.
Beet Salad: Shiso, Mizuna, Winter Citrus. This one surprised us.
High Tide Caesar: Boquerones, Parmesan Tuile, Cherry Tomato. Not your average Caesar.
Australian Wagyu: Kimchi, Okinawan Potatoes, Pea Shoots. The standout of the night. Rich, tender, and worth every bite.
Local Petrale Sole: Green Curry, Sugar Snap Peas, Cipollini Onions. Fresh, local, and beautifully plated.
Cocktails at The Pearl
The lobby bar at La Bahia is inspired by London's legendary hotel bars. It shows.
Elva's Julep Venus Blend No.1 Gin, Rosemary, Fig. Elegant and aromatic.
Soda & Popcorn Brandy, Rum, Tempus Fugit Crème de Banane, Lime, Mexican Coca Cola, Caramel Popcorn. One of the more creative cocktails you'll find in Santa Cruz. It works.
Dessert on the Rooftop
S'mores bar. Ocean views. That's it. That's the review.
Breakfast at Low Tide
A casual, breezy finish to the 24 hours.
Soufflé Style Pancakes: Strawberry Compote, Whipped Cream. Light and fluffy in a way regular pancakes aren't.
Seaside Benedict: Poached Egg, Canadian Bacon, Bloomsdale Spinach, Crispy Potatoes, Hollandaise Sauce. A proper breakfast.
Japanese Style Omelet: Bloomsdale Spinach, Mushroom, Onion, Bell Pepper, Goat Cheese. A sleeper pick. Don't overlook it.
If you are looking for a high end experience in Santa Cruz with great food, solid cocktails, and views of Monterey Bay, La Bahia is your spot.
Book a night. Work through the menu. You won't regret it.
